Contemporary Class Description

Contemporary is a fusion of ballet, jazz, modern, and hip hop danced to current musical artists. The class will provide students with a wide array of choreographic styles, offering creative, fun, and challenging combinations. If you've ever watched "So You Think You Can Dance" you'll know contemporary as a popular dance style of the day.

Lyrical Jazz Description

Lyrical jazz is a dance style that fuses ballet and jazz technique. Lyrical dance incorporates movements to express strong emotions and is usually performed to music with lyrics; as the lyrics are an inspiration to the movement and emotions. Expressing emotions is just as emphasized as expressing technique and provides dancers an opportunity to tell a story through movement. Movement in lyrical dance is fluid, graceful, and continuous. Music may consist of many genres to allow dancers to express a range of emotions through dance.
